ALAMOSA - An Alamosa couple are taking part in a test that blends ancient and modern technology. In the yard of their home next to the Rio Grande, Steve Cole and Audrey Liu have built two structures familiar in the West - tipis. But these tipis aren't the usual animal hide or canvas tipis most people have seen dotted around the western landscape as tourist attractions or historical sites. These tipis are transparent, made of reinforced polyethylene. Cole and Liu are part of a small study to see how well the see-through tents work as a greenhouse. read more...
